Oahu Pet Photographer Does Extreme Puppy Makeover

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Oahu Pet Photographer Deb McGuire recently hosted segment of “The Extreme Puppy Makeover” for OC-16‘s Pet Hui.

The show takes a homeless animal, gives it a complete makeover inside and out, and presents the animal in all its grandeur.  The goal is adoption.

This segment’s star is a little girl named Fluffy.  Fluffy had been seen running around a local strip mall for more than two weeks.  Finally, a concerned security guard caught the dirty little dog and took her to “Friends for Life.”  Lanny Moore contacted Ron Darby.  Ron Darby did some intracranial cognifying.  Fluffy became the perfect candidate for an Extreme Puppty Makeover!

Fluffy received her first-ever grooming session from “Tails of Hawaii.”  Wendy Mah of Sirius Puppy Training provided the mental and psychological clean-up.  Animal Care Foundation in Hawaii Kai gave Fluffy a complete check-up.  She had a fun photo session at the park with yours truly, Deb McGuire Photography…HawaiiPetPhotos.com.  Fluffy finished her day by being treated to a huge bundle of goodies from Pets Discount(the bed she received was so comfy I wanted to crawl into it myself) and lunch at the Costco foodcourt…Fluffy ate a healthy meal while we ate the Costco HotDogs.  The entire program is sponsored by Aloha Kia who provided Fluffy and the Extreme Puppy Makeover Crew with a beautiful Sonata to drive around in for the day.

Be sure to check out Fluffy’s Extreme Makeover on The Pet Hui Show(produced by Ron Darby) on OC16. SANDRA BULLOCK’S OTHER ADOPTIONS

Lost in the paparazzi and tabloid tumult focused on Sandra Bullock, Jesse James, and their well-protected adoptions is the other adoptions in Sandra Bullock’s life, her disabled dogs.

Choosing pets that have physical challenges, Sandra separates herself from other celebs who choose fashionable breeds that look good on the end of their leash or tucked under the arm.

Sandra adopted Poppy in 2005.  Poppy is a 3-legged Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix.

Ms. Bullock adopted Ruby in November, 2006.  Ruby is a Chihuahua who was born with small “flipper-like” (Bullock’s description) appendages instead of full forelegs.  Ruby, the two-legged pooch, has a special wheel chair that provides some front end support if needed.

The divorce could be tough on the small furry friends as it seems from press, tabloid and blog accounts that Jesse James was very involved in their adoptions.

Deb McGuire, Hawaii Pet Photographer, salutes Sandra Bullock for her love and compassion for pets with special needs.

Oahu Pet Photographer says beware of COPY-CATS!!!!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

dsc_0058_330Sister Mary Divine Intervention used to tell us: “Keep your eyes on your own paper.  Don’t assume that your neighbor knows more than you.”

OK, I went to Public School, but my husband suffered through years of nuns, brothers and priests.  The guidance seems wise.

Well, I lament that success has brought “copy-cats,” and they are the two-legged copiers.   So-called web marketing gurus advocate finding a competitor whose webpages you think appeal to your client base and that will give you a place from which to start.  Or, STEAL IT!

Lately, I have noticed a growing number of Hawaiian Pet Photographers who have built sites that look like mine.  “Web-stalking” begins.  I photograph puppies; they photograph puppies.  I photograph a dog jumping into a pool; they photograph a dog jumping into a pool.  I go to the beach; they go to the same beach.

Sister Mary Divine Intervention also said,  “Imitation may be a form of flattery, only not on my tests.”

Interlopers irritate.  I need to stay away from the Internet for a few days.

Of course, the one thing they cannot imitate.  There is only one Deb McGuire.
