Sister Mary Divine Intervention used to tell us: “Keep your eyes on your own paper. Don’t assume that your neighbor knows more than you.”
OK, I went to Public School, but my husband suffered through years of nuns, brothers and priests. The guidance seems wise.
Well, I lament that success has brought “copy-cats,” and they are the two-legged copiers. So-called web marketing gurus advocate finding a competitor whose webpages you think appeal to your client base and that will give you a place from which to start. Or, STEAL IT!
Lately, I have noticed a growing number of Hawaiian Pet Photographers who have built sites that look like mine. “Web-stalking” begins. I photograph puppies; they photograph puppies. I photograph a dog jumping into a pool; they photograph a dog jumping into a pool. I go to the beach; they go to the same beach.
Sister Mary Divine Intervention also said, “Imitation may be a form of flattery, only not on my tests.”
Interlopers irritate. I need to stay away from the Internet for a few days.
Of course, the one thing they cannot imitate. There is only one Deb McGuire.
